How long has your company been doing custom homes?

We have been building homes since 1989.

What are the requirements of building a custom home?

  • A complete set of working drawings.
  • Required permits necessary to perform all the stages of development required by your city or town.
  • A general contractor who is licensed to perform or manage the phases of work in the project.

What would I need to do if I want a custom home built?

There are several elements involved in initiating the start of building a custom home.

  • You need a lot that is suitable for building.
  • You need an architect to develop the design of your project.
  • You will need financing and insurance.

Do you provide plans for homes?

We do not provide plan for custom homes. We do however can refer a number of architects for consideration. Also, plans can be obtained from various publishing companies. Designs range from southwestern to eastern style homes.

What would I need an architect for?

An architect is needed to include the ideas of the client and required documents needed for review by the building and planning department in the city in which the project is to be constructed. The architect services also included making any modifications to the approved plans that present conflicts during the course of construction.

Does your company do remodeling, renovations or home improvements?

Equity Construction Southwest, Inc. does perform remodels and renovations contingent on size of remodel.

What is the minimum dollar range that your company would do a custom home for?
The average dollar range for building a custom home is $85 to $105 per sq. ft. depending upon availability of materials and upgraded finishes.

Does your company provide estimates and if so is there a fee?

Equity Construction Southwest, Inc does provide budget estimates based on what is involved in the project. Hard quotes require more time and research as well as firm quotes/bids from subcontractors. For these type of estimated there is a fee.

Would I need to provide my own subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, etc?

We are happy to have a group of subcontractors that we use on a regular basis. We have found these companies to be fare and reasonable in their pricing, however if there is a client who would like to use a certain subcontractor on their project that is acceptable and negotiable.

Does your company work with insurance companies, in regards to payment?

We have worked with several types of financial institutions, including insurance companies. We are familiar with various types of billing and payment options.

What is the standard time frame in building a custom home?

The standard time frame for building a custom home from start to finish is approx. 9 months to 1 year, depending upon availability of materials, weather, and overall scope of the project.

Does your company provide a contractor's or builder's warranty, if so how long?

A warranty is provided for all projects per the guidelines of the Registrar of Contractors. The current time frame for a warranty is 2 years from the completion of the project.

Does your company work outside of phoenix, if so what cities?

We do perform work statewide. We are also available to perform work through joint ventures in other states.
